What – another AMAZING DAY?

in
Antarctic Expeditions

Antarctica has looked favorably upon us the last two days giving us brilliant cloudless blue skies – perfect for rolling into Paradise Harbor yesterday afternoon – the day and the views were very fitting for the name. After a zodiac cruise where there were also humpback whales around us – super exciting, we landed – ON THE CONTINENT – and hiked up for some pretty fantastic views of the bay – cloudless, windless, amazing. Oh, and we also happened to witness a pretty great calving from the glacier that was behind us on the hill. To top off the evening we towed our plankton net from behind the dinghy on the way home to collect phytoplankton samples for a project at Scripps – FjordPhyto. While doing that we watched a second huge calving of a glacier. And on the final approaches to ocean Tramp we collected some perfectly clear ice for our gin and tonics. Not a bad day.
