Captain, Oliver Grant
Signing up to sail across the Drake Passage to Antarctica is no small feat, and with it comes with some serious safety briefings. But now, as I write, with everyone on board, we have run through all the emergency procedures and safety equipment and were ready to depart Ushuaia. With a strong wind forecast around Cape Horn and the Beagle channel, we opted to sail into the worlds most southern town, Puerto Williams. A fascinating time capsule at the end of the world were horses roam free but bureaucracy is rife. The new world catching up with the old. A tricky mooring manoeuvre with gusts of 45 knots, we were glad to be secure for the night to wait out the storm, before creeping our way south in the coming days.
