Ocean Tramp – Whales and Bubble Feeding

Departing Enterprise, we glide towards Wilhelmina Bay and are greeted by mirror like waters with floating iceberg sculptures and the most spectacular Hump back Whale ballet – hours of whale fins and tails and bubble feeding right next to the Ocean Tramp – a truly magical and wonderfully special experience , floating silently alongside these majestic animals. The photographers are having a field day  – too many amazing images to capture – penguins porpoising – whales feeding –light illuminating the icebergs and mountains and glaciers that surrounded us .

Eventually we have to leave our Humpback friends and we motor on around the point to head for Danco Island- Before we head for shore Janey makes a delicious soup and fresh foccacia – then it time to head ashore and take a closer look at our little tuxedo clad Gentoo Penguins- They are very busy wandering up and down their penguin highways , stealing stones from each others nests and we were lucky enough to see two chicks in nests being fed by  their parents. We spend an hour admiring these beautiful penguins and watching them going fishing and dashing out of the water to escape the jaws of a Leopard seal stalking the shoreline for his next meal.

Back to the Ocean tramp and head off to our next destination – the useful isles (which turn out to be not so useful !) we drop anchor and another magnificent feast is created in the tiny galley  by Janey -carribean fish tonight ! Mak opens the bar for a pre dinner Vermouth – – Icebergs float by and the wind rocks us – Captain Dave and crew – Eze and Ben haul up the anchor and we head to a safer port – finding shelter in Paradise bay by another penguin colony and the Chilean base – rocking to some 80:s tunes !!! Its been another magical   adventure on the ocean Tramp! I cant wait for tomorrow !!!
