One of the most exciting parts I was looking forward to on this trip was the
Drake Passage. The passage waters are known to be the roughest in the world.
Infamously notorious for breaking sails and making people severely sick [don’t
worry Mom I was fine]. While crossing the passage we spotted many kinds of
birds dancing with the waves as they pushed us further south. The weather
was nice to us and the sailing conditions were good. We only encountered
severe cold and snowy weather towards the end of the voyage closer to
Antarctica when the wind picked up. After a few hours of very rough sailing,
I was woken up this morning at 4:30am by David saying, “hey man, I think you
should wake up and see this”. I rushed to the wheelhouse for the most
exciting moment of the crossing – the white continent finally in sight – we’ve
arrived!
