Ocean Tramp Shakedown

in
Antarctic Expeditions

The boat is ready – all the winter jobs closed up, the boat is ready for passengers in 4 days, so the crew, led by Skipper Dave, took advantage of some great weather for an overnight shakedown cruise – update from onboard:

A lovely calm motor sail today from Ushuia to Caleta La Cucharita, a distance covered of nearly 10 Nm in less than 5 kts of wind and beautiful blue skys.

We decided to anchor in a small cove, running three lines ashore to secure our position over night. The depth is 8m and the holding is good. We all then had some spaghetti for lunch and decided to go ashore for a hike up the hill for a better view. From there we could see Ocean Tramp moored securely as well as a dozen wild horses on the opposite shore.

We then took a little zodiac tour while Eze tried out the kayak!

Now for dinner and perhaps a movie. Anchor up 0730 to return to Ushuia before 10am.

Dave
