After a quick 4 days in Ushuaia Ocean Tramp is off again. This trip is a photo safari trip with a group from Buenos Aires and their leader / master
photographer Marcelo Gurruchaga. He has taken groups previously to Antarctica and we are excited he is onboard! The first mornings are always a bit busy – loading luggage, giving everyone a safety tour. People getting familiar with the boat, then we were all off to the Coast Guard to officially leave Ushuaia. While busy that morning, we managed to get all the paper work sign and then picked up 8 loaves of fresh bread and 2 dozen fresh argentine pastries and we were off. To see us off was a small film crew from Infuetur, the Tourism ministry of Tierra del Fuego. They are making a short promotional video about our trips to Antarctica!
And we were in the Beagle Channel again, it was raining off and on, with bursts of sunshine throughout. WE made our way along and ended our day anchored in Harberton. The photographers braved the rain and spent 2 hours ashore exploring and photographing Harberton. Harberton was the first estancia in Tierra del Fuego and the white washed buildings again the green rolling hills are always a bright spot on this sometimes harsh landscape. This time of year as well Lupines are in bloom and it just has a sense of life! I love this place, plus it has a good little cove with excellent holding for an anchor!
Tomorrow we will push on and aim to make it to Puerto Espanol on Peninsula Mitre.
