WE ARE READY!
Our first passengers of the Antarctic Season arrive tomorrow (weather permitting, although looking good) by airplane to King George Island. The last few days we’ve been doing final prep and we are ready.
What does final prep include?
Some of the boring stuff – cleaning, making beds, cooking. It also includes some crew training / refreshers on Antarctica Protocol. We also did a start of season test of the Science equipment for FjordPhyto. We part of the sampling team that is collecting phytoplankton. Watch this space for why phytoplankton are important in a few days – you too will get excited about these small floating creatures!
Today we went ashore to stretch out legs and walk up to the airstrip. As we landed on shore, we saw three types of penguins all together – Gentoo, chinstrap, and Adelie. Yay for penguins! ready for tons more!
And below is a photo of the whole Hans Hansson Crew ready for the season!!!!!!!!!
