And we are officially on our first trip of the year. This trip is more exploratory and scientific – we have onboard Alejandro who joined us last year to confirm otters on Isla de los Estaods (success). He is now back to place even more cameras!
We also have onboard two archeologists to check out some places that had not previously been checked in depth. I’m learning lots about archeology and the findings of Peninsula Mitre and Isla de los Estados – I’m sure I’ll have much more to report soon.
We are anchored for the night in Puerto Espanol, on Peninsula Mitre. Some strong winds are predicted for tomorrow, so based on tides, and currents, we felt it best to wait it out here. The archeologists are delighted, as there are some known sites here that they have never visited. Ale will look for more otter sites, I will test out our Antarctica phytoplankton equipment. Our photographer onboard have plenty to photographer (it’s a beautiful place) and our pack rafter Luke will explore a bit. I see an interesting dinner conversation tomorrow night to tell of everyone’s adventures and discoveries.
stay tuned and soon updates from our scientists and archeologists!
