Hans Hansson and Ocean Tramp spent the night together in Port Lockroy!!!
The previous day had been overcast, snowy, windy, and overall how you might expect Antarctica on a wintery day…. except of course it was summer! But what we paid for yesterday, we got today in spectacular sunshine and blue skies!!!!
Yesterday we also did some science – we collected phytoplankton and other data, as part of fjord phyto – a phd project of Allison Lee. Phytoplankton are all the small things in the ocean that float around AND have chlorophyll – so they just need sun – like plants. Just like plants are the base of our land food chain – phytoplankon are at the base of the marine Antarctica food chain.
Thanks so Ocean Tramp for taking a great photo of the two boats!
