What to Wear??

in
Antarctic Expeditions

After spending the last 2.5 years sailing in the South, going outside and getting ready to sail meant gearing up – putting on my fleece jacket, likely my synthetic down jacket as well, plus my wet weather gear – bibs and jacket. Then hauling on my thick arctic pro muck boots and a pair of waterproof or rubber gloves. Once that was done – I was ready to sail, or pick up the anchor, or get in the dinghy. But if the above did not happen, surely within 10-20 minutes I’d be cold.

What a difference a few degree of latitude make (ok more than a few!) We are now in Brazilian waters and going outside requires – SHORTS! and t-shirt. Once today I threw on a wind breaker. Soon we will be able to jump in and swim and not risk hypothermia within minutes!

Brazil and warm waters – here we come!
