Ok, so after a delightful day of sailing and sea sickness on the Bransfield Strait we woke up this morning near Portal Point where we disembarked the zodiac for our first walk in Antartica.
There, we were fortunate enough to be greeted first by an Imperial Cormorant, followed quickly by some reasonably sedate fur seals and we discovered when we hiked to the top of the island that there were (very unusually) an additional Leopard and a crabeater seals.
It was back to the boat for lunch and we sailed on to Enterprise island where we dropped anchor beside the Governon wreck and headed out again for our second zodiac tour of the day. We were met by some more fur seals and came upon some nesting cormorants and penguins. And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, we returned to the Ocean Tramp to an amazing roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and a delicious chocolate torte courtesy of our wonderful on board chef Janey……bring on tomorrow !
