21 Degrees!

in
Antarctic Expeditions

It keeps getting warmer and warmer everyday. We started with 8 degree Celsius as we left the Falklands. every day we have gained a degree or two. Now we are in shorts and t-shirts! The amazing thing about being out on the ocean is how little the temperature changes from day to night – maybe a degree, but no more. The ocean holds temperature so well that it doesn’t really change – its only changing because we go north.

We’ve had a mix of weather as we head north – great winds from the south west pushing us north, then one night of winds from the north east – 37 knots – exactly the wrong direction, so we hove to for the night and continued the next morning when the winds moved back to the SW. Now favorable winds again and we are cruising along and still easting easter egg chocolate!
